Things to Do

There are many "Things to Do" in Stevensville, Montana to keep one busy or just sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of the Bitterroot Valley.

Main18.jpg (42692 bytes)There are many shops on and off Main Street to visit and do a little shopping...antiques, art, books, collectibles, handicrafts, sandwich shops, coffee shops, restaurants and much more! The Our Members page lists many businesses in Stevensville, Montana and our Event Page for 2004 lists  activities that are and will be going on in our town.

Main24.jpg (82925 bytes)Besides the great shopping there are many activities for everyone to enjoy. Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge is a favorite for bird watching and nature study and is just around the corner from main Street. Sitting below the Bitterroot Mountains, Lee Metcalf WR is perfect to just take a hour or so and enjoy the beauty of Montana.

Just a stones throw away is the Bitterroot River and the Stevi cut-off bridge where fishing, swimming, picnicking, floating and water recreation can be had. Put in at the bridge and float down the beautiful clear Bitterroot River at your own pace or just step into the river and cast to Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat trout. From the center of Stevensville you can walk the paved walking path right down to the river!

Main3.jpg (51748 bytes)Pick up a lunch to go and head on down to the Lewis & Clark Park, just a couple of blocks off of Main Street, and let the kids play on the various slides, swings and merry go rounds. There is a covered picnic area if the weather turns a little sour where you can enjoy the scenery of the Bitterroot Mountains.

Within the parks boundaries is the Town of Stevensville swimming pool. Please check the swimming pool page for open dates and swimming lesson times. On a hot summer day bring the kids and yourself to the pool and cool down for an hour or so. A very popular place with the kids.

Main5.jpg (74407 bytes)There are many historic sites, old & beautiful houses and churches to visit. Feel free to walk the side streets and see these wonderful places. St. Mary's Mission is where Montana began and is a popular spot for school kids to learn Montana history. There are tours given and a gift shop to remember your visit. It is a beautiful historical site and one you will want to visit.
